Susan Richard Gets Young Engineer Award - 1996
Susan Richard, a project
manager with the consulting engineering firm of Domingue, Szabo & Associates
(DS&A), was selected to receive the LES (Louisiana Engineering Society) 1996 F. Hugh
Coughlin Award of Merit for Young Engineers.
The Award of Merit is awarded to an engineer not over 35 years of age who has
demonstrated to a high degree capabilities in his/her chosen field of engineering, thereby
indicating potential for further advancement and leadership as a professional engineer.
Richard is the first woman to whom the Society granted the award. It will be presented
at the Annual LES Awards Meeting in March.
Richard has been employed at DS&A since 1992, working on various private
development projects and on various municipal water, wastewater, and drainage projects.
She is a USL alumnus and is a registered Professional Engineer in Civil and Environmental
Engineering in Louisiana. She is a member of LES and the National Society of Professional
Engineers, and has served the Lafayette Chapter as treasurer, first vice president,
president, and as chairman of various standing committees. She is currently serving as
state director of LES.
