| When asked what makes a great community work, most people cite things like good
schools and hospitals, a well-run government, cultural events, good transportation
systems, parks and recreational facilities. But all that comes later after laying a solid
foundation through behind-the-scenes planning, design and engineering. There must first be
a sturdy infrastructure of roads, bridges, airports, drainage systems and subdivisions to
support the community. Quality of life in any community starts with things like
well-designed roads, good water quality management plans, and efficient, cost-effective
construction projects. Designing and engineering the infrastructures that make up the
backbone of a community is where we fit in.
